Daytime rowing at the club

Here at Explore Rowing we believe that rowing should be done at whatever time of the day you can make it to the club. Previously, many clubs have been reluctant to open up their facilities during the day, however things are changing! There are increasing numbers of people joining the sport and many of these, for one reason or another, are lucky enough to be able to enjoy the river in the daylight hours. The more members you can accomodate the better for the club and for the sport.

Hexham RC in the North East have sent in a plan for their weekly rowing activities that sounds great so we've published it below as an example. There is something for everyone as it includes skill sessions on the water for all levels of experience and cross-training sessions for those who want to work on their fitness.

1) Wednesday morning Session 8.30 - 10.30.  This session is aimed at all members who have come through the Learn to Row course, recreational rowers who would like to develop their skills and enjoy the river, then also the developing squads for the upcoming Durham head at the beginning of February.

Wednesday Evening (Winter Warmers Session) - 7.30 at the Wentworth, spinning and core work, I cant recommend this highly enough as a fitness, fat burning session, this ends in March BUT still enough sessions to get yourself/family fitter.

2) Thursday morning Session 9am - 11am.  As the Wednesday session.

3)  Friday 1 - 3pm.  This is the Learn to Row Session so it is initially for newcomers to the sport who are learning to row and just coming into the club.  However if you would like to come down and get some input as to your technique individually or as a squad do come along.

To be arranged - Ergo Sessions, please liaise with me as if you would like to start regular ergo as a compliment to the Wednesday night sessions this will be arranged.
