Olympic fever offers the perfect opportunity to get rowing!

A wide range of new learn to row courses have been added to our Explore Rowing events pages in time for the summer holidays. So if you are stuck for something to do this summer or inspired by watching the GB Olympic and Paralympic Rowing teams in action then there are plenty of opportunities to get onto the water!

All of our new watersports centres are up and running and keen to get people rowing in their brand new Explore Rowing sculling boats. As you can see from the pictures the boats are stable and alot of fun for people who are completely new to the sport no matter what your age and experience!

All centres are AALA (Adventure Activity Licensing  Authority) recognised and Explore Rowing accredited, subsequently they have fully trained watersports instructors to deliver all activities. Each centre is following the national learn to row programme to offer all participants age 11+ the opportunity to complete the nationally recognised stage one and two learn to row awards.

The aim of the watersports centres is to deliver rowing to complete beginners of all ages in a safe and fun environment, making rowing more about fun and games, water skills and safety than just about rowing. This therefore gives participants basic boatmanship and water confidence that can be applied across all watersports. Furthermore the Watersports centre environment gives participants access to professional coaching in a pressure-free environment., giving participants the ability to learn at their own pace through a structured course.

Explore Rowing now has 12 accredited watersports centres in England and 1 in Wales so the options of where to go to give rowing a try are more than ever! Whether you are on holiday near one of the destinations or live close by all of the centres will be happy to hear from you to book on to a course or answer any questions you may have.

If you require any more information about the centres or upcoming courses please take a look at our event listings or contact Gareth.Storey@britishrowing.org.
