Lechlade to Putney

Row the entire rowable length of the Thames from Lechlade to Putney. You don't have to have done it in one go (it will probably take a week or more). If you've done the bit from Putney to Greenwich, so much the better, but this part requires extremely safe and stable boats and isn't suitable for everyone.

I agree with Mike ~ having sculled single handed non-stop from Lechlade to Gravesend (2005) and in a crew all the way to South End in skiffs (Dittons Skiff Club) ~ Why stop at Putney???
For those interested ~ single handed is 43hrs 40mins, in crew (Bedford RC) 29hrs.
Come on folks the gauntlet has been thrown down, who's going to pick it up?

Having recently come to visit Erith club and seen where you row. It amazes me how varied all the different stretches of the Thames are. Having cycled the whole way down the Thames path to the Dartford crossing it would be a new challenge to row it. Maybe next year we can get something organised, with various clubs at each stage to help out.

As a member of Erith RC I would just like to point out that the "rowable length of the Thames" does not stop at Putney. At Erith (near the Dartford Crossing) we happily use a Swift recreational 4+/4x+/5x-as well as rowing in perfectly normal racing boats. Further down river Gravesend RC also train in racing boats and racing boats have been as far down as Southend. There is a registered club - Lower Thames RC - rowing out of Canvey Island and an unregistered club on Sheppey.
