Come and join us for the first Round Canvey Race.

A 14.5 mile sea race round Canvey Island, Essex in the Thames Estuary. Starting and finishing at Benfleet Yacht Club the race starts as soon a possiblle on the tide rowing down the creek against the tide to the eastern point of Canvey Island. The course then takes you into the main River Thames where with the tide you follow the main shipping channel (to the side!) up the outside of Canvey and heading inland again at Holehaven where you follow the creeks back to Benfleet Yacht Club. All boats must be suitable for possible rough sea conditions. Fixed seat and sliding seat boats welcome. There is also a category for row/sailing craft - but as there are 2 road bridges and 2 tidal barrages to go under the masts must be able to come down easily.
Race starts from 2.15pm with a staggered start and the slowest boats going off first.

The bar at BYC is open all day with bbq.
Camping is available (free). Large carpark and trailer storage on site.

For further details please contact Penny Jones on penny._jones@tiscali.co.uk or more information is available at www.benfleetyachtclub.org
