Nottingham Rowing Club, Trentside, West Bridgford, Nottm. NG2 5FA

Come along and Try out one of our Touring Quads; These boats offer an ideal opportunity for first time rowers to feel what it is like to be on the River, safely, with a happy group of people, all there because they like the idea of learning to row and as these boats are coxed, the coach is on-board to guide/coach the Novice crew upstream to the Suspension Bridge and back to the Clubhouse for Tea and Cakes and a chat about when participants might like to attend one of our rowing courses.

We offer a number of options, 4 x 2hour coached sessions as a taster for £60 or 10 x 2hours £120, following the British Rowing Learn 2 Row Handbook and the skill card at the back of the hand book, achieving at least stage one, and getting on to the second stage as the participant progresses into the Improver/Novice section of the Club. Participants on the 10 session course are registered with Explore rowing for 3 months British Rowing membership which entitles them to a copy of Rowing and regatta magazine and other benefits.

We have Capsize drills booked for March 2012 and will run another session in August or September. (Earlier if numbers dictate)

Alternatively, Within the Leisure Group, meeting on Tuesday and Friday Lunchtimes, we deliver the course with assistance and encouragement from the existing members of the group. We also like to offer inclusive individual sessions to help the participant feel confident in the skills learned; manouevring the boat, stopping, turning, timing, balance and having 1:1 attention so that the participant can work on areas they feel unsure of; these sessions also serve to reassure participants that they are indeed doing fine! We have the flexibility to offer Weekday sessions by arrangement, and likewise, a coach is available to head up a leisure group session, if members feel happier with a coach around until their confidence is such that they can organize themselves for outings.

Our Fleet of touring boats are used by all age groups across the club; junior rowers enjoy rowing with their friends in the Coxed quads, and the Leisure group used one for the Annual row to Newark and an Explore rowing day with Newark & Lincoln RCs. these Wintech Explorers are very versatile and stable, they can be rigged either way 4x+ or 4+. In addition to these two crew boats, we have 2 Explorer double sculls and 4 Explorer Single sculls and stabilizer float attachments which fit easily onto the wing riggers of the Single scull if required.

Please Contact : Jeny.huskinson@ntlworld.com to book your seat and for further information about our courses which will run throughout the season to October/November (weather permitting).
