On Sunday I met so many people who are involved in Explore Rowing in the North East, mostly the club coordinators. Its amazing how this project is growing and more and more people are becoming involved in fun rowing. Please lets share some thoughts and ideas on the website and lets start communicating on how we can help each other get more people rowing.
Today I'm working on the Summer Series 2012. If your club is running an event that can be opened up to others joining you I would love to know. We are hoping to have a feature in January's magazine with lots of places and dates where you can row. I'm open to any ideas or suggestions. Thanks
Hi everyone. Now that the new website is up and running I'm really keen for all our coordinators to start sharing ideas, problems etc. Post questions, send answers and lets see if we can all work towards helping each other.
Hi,
Hope everyone found the Coordinators' Day useful last weekend. Notes and presentations from the day are now available at http://www.explorerowing.org/blogs/explore-rowing-co-ordinators-meeting

Hi,
Hopefully everyone should have recently received a club update via email. If you haven't then please let us know at explorerowing@britishrowing.org and we'll make sure it gets to you.
Rich
I'm really glad you found it useful on Saturday.
The boats to hire is definitely something that needs some further work - I think it's definitely worth discussing on here. Does anyone want to lay out the various issues in detail?
Good event at Stourport on Saturday; learnt a lot from other clubs and ER staff. One issue not covered was how we coordinate efforts on how Explore Rowing clubs offer boats 'for hire' to visiting members of other ER clubs. Came up at our regional conference in Durham a few weeks ago as well. Still not clear how this is goingto work - insurance issues, charges, how to assess competency, etc. Can we establish an online dicsussion on this?
Thanks to everyone who attended the Network day on Saturday - I hope you found it useful?
We will be sending round the notes later this week and will also post them up here.
Merry Christmas everyone! Thanks for all your hard work on the programme this year.
Hi,
How's everyone's projects going? I just wanted to flag up this discussion on Rec.Sport.Rowing which Brian from Grosvenor has started. It's about club boat booking software for managing a boat fleet - it may be of interest to other clubs too?
Hi Brian
we are running an invitational recreation fours at our Vet and junior head on October 9th. If your club would like to enter please let me know.
Mary
Hi everyone,
Don't forget that you should add your learn to row courses up by going to http://www.explorerowing.org/node/add/course - it's a great way to promote your club.
I've also just set it up so you can use it to show taster sessions too.
We'll be sending round a guide on how to make the most of this website for your club shortly to all accredited clubs.
Hi
our new package of boats are now in regular use as we have just launched our Pubs and Clubs learn to row course. We expect around 60 crews to take part and will run 3 x 50 minute sessions using 4 boats every night for 6 weeks. that means that each crew will get at least 6 outings including land based orientation session. The finale is a knockout regatta split into 3 divisions - ladies, Pubs & Clubs and Works. We typically get around 20 competitors wanting to join the club afterwards and this is where we hope Explore Rowing will benefit us as we will be able to offer dedicated equipment and provide a dedicated coach and assistants to continue with their stage 2 course.
Its hard work for all volunteers but to date i would say two thirds of our membership entered the club via this route - me included in 1988!
Wish us luck.
mary
Grosvenor's boats are now at the club.
We have been doing learn to row for over a year now, we need the new boats to retain those course graduates who prefer not to compete. Everyone enjoys learn to row but not everyone wants to join a competitive squad. We have a privately owned dutch touring boat trailer (I am a part owner) which will allow us to mount expeditions away from the Dee in the future.
That's great news Brian - I'm looking forward to coming up to Grosvenor for your launch event! How are all the plans for implementing the rest of Explore Rowing like the Learn to Row going?
Have you had chance to take a look at the new resources for the Explore Rowing Learn to Row Scheme?
Hi, we are just about ready to go, boats are due delivery in the next few weeks. They will join our privately owned dutch skiff which has been doing sterling service on the Dee and on the UK tours with the older veterans.
Hi,
Hope everyone's clubs are looking forward to getting the programme off the ground in their clubs - hopefully we can use this area to communicate effectively about how the programme is going in general and at each of the individual clubs.
I think it's really important that we all work together to come up with good ideas to attract new rowers to the sport and for ways to collaborate on events etc,
Rich
